In the serene neighborhood of Bağlıca, Ankara, we had the pleasure of interviewing Aslı Çelik, one of the most prominent representatives of Pilates in Turkey. Through her professional achievements and admirable personal qualities, Aslı Çelik stands as a role model for many. Born in 1980 to a military father, Aslı Çelik spent her childhood in various cities across Turkey.
This dynamic lifestyle not only exposed her to different cultures but also endowed her with a strong ability to adapt. Eventually settling in Eskişehir, Çelik completed her high school and university education there, graduating with a degree in Business Administration.
After graduation, Aslı Çelik embarked on a challenging corporate career, quickly climbing the ranks to become a hotel manager for several years. However, 2013 marked a new chapter in her life.
In her quest to escape the hectic pace of her job, she discovered Pilates. What started as just a hobby soon became an integral part of her life.
In 2014, she decided to pursue Pilates training, questioning her path with “What am I doing?” and yet, continuously evolving. She soon realized that Pilates was not just a physical exercise but also a tool that allows one to pause time.
Aslı Çelik firmly believes that Pilates, which she views as a crucial investment, especially for advancing age, is one of the most effective ways to age healthily, maintain a fit appearance, and stay in shape.
At her studio in Bağlıca, Aslı Çelik utilizes her years of experience and knowledge to offer Pilates as a rehabilitation tool for individuals suffering from serious health issues such as fibromyalgia and ankylosing spondylitis.
Collaborating with physiotherapists, Çelik designs personalized programs, mentioning that her studio also accommodates individuals with conditions like scoliosis and herniated discs. She particularly highlights the importance of individualized training sessions directed by doctors, while also emphasizing the high motivation in group classes.
Her studio can host group classes of up to 11 participants at once, aiming to maximize the physical and mental well-being of the attendees.
Prices range from 1600 TL to 3800 TL per month, reflecting the quality of service provided. Aslı Çelik Pilates Studio offers a 10% discount under corporate agreements and also collaborates with Ankara Vamos Academy. Together with coach Ahmetcan Serbestoğlu, Çelik plans to offer a new experience by combining aqua jogging and Pilates, indicating that they are open to more collaborations in this field.
Despite having to close twice during the pandemic, Aslı Çelik Pilates Studio maintained its strong presence in Bağlıca. Post-pandemic, the studio saw such high demand that it operated 11 hours a day. The key to this success lies in Aslı Çelik’s reliability, sincerity, and expertise in Pilates.
As she herself notes, having been in this business in Bağlıca for many years, she has earned the trust of the local community. Together with her team of six, Çelik has been working professionally for many years, always emphasizing the importance of education and team spirit.
In this special interview with Aslı Çelik, I gained a deeper understanding of the value Pilates brings to our lives from the perspective of an expert who has received international training and offers services in various fields such as Equipment Pilates, Group Reformer, Barre Pilates, and Pregnancy Pilates. I was genuinely impressed by Aslı Çelik’s warm approach, high energy, and the interest she showed throughout our conversation, proving that her success is no coincidence. The studio’s quality atmosphere, the quality of the equipment used, and the Turkish coffee offered made this experience even more special. Aslı Çelik’s determination, knowledge, and sincerity are a great asset to those who have embraced Pilates as a lifestyle in Bağlıca. After our interview, I felt proud to be part of this success story and extend my heartfelt thanks to her.
