AirDrop is Apple’s file transfer service that allows you to discover nearby Macs and iOS devices and securely transfer files. But how do you use AirDrop?
Using AirDrop:
AirDrop Compatibility:
- iPhone and iPad: To use AirDrop on iOS, you need an iPhone 5 or later, iPad 4 or later, iPad mini, or fifth-generation iPod touch.
- Mac: All Mac models from 2012 and later running OS X Yosemite or later support AirDrop.
Setting Up AirDrop on iPhone and iPad:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap on General.
- Choose either Contacts Only or Receiving Off.
Adjusting AirDrop Settings via Control Center:
- Open Control Center.
- Firmly press the network settings card.
- Tap on AirDrop.
- Select either Contacts Only or Receiving Off.
Sending and Receiving Files:
- For file sharing, tap on the Share icon in the relevant app.
- Choose the person you want to send the file to using AirDrop.
- For password sharing, select AirDrop from the Website & App Passwords section in Settings.
Sending Files on Mac:
- Launch Finder.
- Drag the files you want to share to the AirDrop window.
- Drop the file onto the profile picture of the person you want to send it to.
Setting Up AirDrop on Mac:
- Open Finder.
- Select AirDrop.
- Set the Allow me to be discovered by option to Contacts Only, Everyone, or No one.
By following these steps, you can easily use AirDrop to share files between your Apple devices.
