Welcome to My Weekly College Football Playoff Bracket

Greetings, college football enthusiasts! It’s that time of the week again where I present my updated College Football Playoff bracket. This update will reflect the latest results from the weekend. The rankings and selections you see here are based on my personal analysis and opinions, which may differ significantly from the more scientifically grounded projections by Austin Mock. Additionally, I encourage you to check out David Ubben’s insightful Bubble Watch every Monday for further insights.

This week, my five conference champions remain unchanged: Ohio State from the Big Ten, Georgia representing the SEC, Miami as the ACC champion, Utah from the Big 12, and UNLV for the Group of 5. However, the seeding has seen some shifts. Notably, Tennessee has climbed two spots to secure the No. 6 position after their impressive victory against Oklahoma.

GO DEEPER: Discover the key takeaways from Week 4 of the CFP: Clemson and Utah shine while USC faces a setback.

One fascinating development this week is that I have allocated all my at-large berths to teams from the SEC (four slots) and the Big Ten (three slots). Despite a narrow loss to Michigan, USC has managed to secure a spot in the bracket. In contrast, Kansas State has dropped out following a significant defeat against BYU. The Trojans’ potential to achieve nonconference victories against both LSU and Notre Dame greatly enhances their chances of making the playoff, even if they do not qualify for the Big Ten title game.

As I evaluate the possible resumes for teams like Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, and Ole Miss, it becomes apparent that the selection committee will face a challenging task if all these teams finish with an impressive 10-2 record. Each of these teams could potentially conclude the season with multiple victories over Top 25 opponents, and possibly even against top 10 teams.

For now, I am sticking with UNLV as my Group of 5 representative, but I must admit that Boise State is making a compelling case for a switch if they can secure a victory against Washington State in the upcoming week.
