Yılmaz Yıldız, the CEO of Zurich Sigorta Grubu Türkiye, was honored with a leadership award at the United Nations – Global Compact Leaders Summit held in New York on September 24. During the ceremony, Yıldız received his award in the presence of global business leaders, UN officials, politicians, public administrators, and civil society representatives.
Initiated in 2000 by then UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, the UN Global Compact is now the largest sustainability movement in the global business community. The Global Compact represents a significant step towards creating a more equitable, sustainable, and human-centered world by leveraging the power of business. Over 20,000 companies and organizations from more than 160 countries participate in this initiative, contributing to shaping the future of both business and the world.
The Global Compact emphasizes that companies should operate not only with profit motives but also with a sense of social responsibility. Key principles of the initiative include respect for human rights, fair working conditions, environmental protection, and the fight against corruption, which are all part of its ten foundational principles.
This recognition highlights Yıldız’s commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility, reflecting a growing trend among business leaders to prioritize ethical practices and societal impact alongside financial success.
